1) My research area is biotechnology and my project is about how to advance CAR T cell therapy for the treatment of solid tumors. Currently CAR T cell therapy is a very powerful therapy for liquid tumors, such as leukemia, however, still highly costly and not available for solid tumor patients. I am working on establishing a multiplex engineering platform to develop the next generation of CAR T cell therapy.
2) My research is relevant because cancer is one of the major health burdens to society, needing constant advances in therapy to combat.
3) I am from Austria and moved to Zurich to do my Bsc and Msc. During my Msc in Molecular Mechanisms of disease I decided to do an internship at the marine biological section of KU in Helsingør, because it was always my dream to become a marine biologist, when I was very little but then I moved away from that thought. I realized that I enjoyed being abroad and went to do my Master Thesis at TU Delft. After 4.5 years I thought it was time for a location change and since I really enjoyed the Netherlands and Denmark I thought it was time to relocate to one of them if possible. So I started to look into PhD opportunities.
