I am an industrial PhD student at DTU Health Tech. I am German and came for my Master's studies at DTU. Afterwards, I combined my student job and my research.
My research is in the field of physics and optics, applied in the field of biotechnology. I investigate molecular interaction (e.g. how strong a drug binds its anticipated target), by measuring the size and optical properties of the two molecules. This has potential implications on how well we can study and characterize new drugs and ultimately accelerate the development of drugs.
However, for the lecture/lesson in school, I would focus on the part of how to measure the size of molecules. Since measuring size and length is very relatable to our daily lives, it will be interesting to rethink measuring if we talk about particles/molecules that are a million times smaller than what we are used to. Therefore, it falls under the field of physics, flow, diffusion, and optical detection.
I have already some experiments/demonstrators in mind where the pupils can engage themselves. Moreover, the topic is very suitable for the integration of polls and quizzes.
