My research area is quantum sensing, where I use special defects in diamond to measure magnetic fields. These defects are known as Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) centers. NV centers have numerous applications, ranging from material science to biology. In my research, I focus on photosynthesis, but I can also present other biological applications, such as imaging brain activity, measuring cell temperatures, and more. These biological applications are primarily related to biomagnetism or nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).
Regarding the physics, I can explain what a magnetic field is, including a bit about its history. I can also describe how NV centers are used to measure magnetic fields. Additionally, I can introduce the concept of spin and discuss the fascinating quantum properties of NV centers.
Finally, I can share my personal journey as a student and how it led me to pursue a PhD in this field. I started my studies with a bachelor's in physics in France, where I am originally from. Then, I completed a master's in physics at NTNU in Norway. Now, I am doing a PhD in Denmark.
