Have you ever wondered if foods we are consuming are actually safe? Or if new dietary recommendations (for example transitioning to a more plant-based diet) are indeed the best option for our health while being coherent with economic and environmental demands?
Ensuring sustainable food systems might be a challenging task, and often policy makers must deal with complex decisions. In my research project, I will be investigating new approaches to provide relevant scientific evidence to support informed decision-making. These new approaches address food safety issues in a holistic approach (accounting for environment and economics factors). In this presentation, students will be introduced to the different elements that is part of food systems and challenges to achieve sustainable and healthy diets. Moreover, they will overall idea of how and why scientific advice is generated in the context of food safety.
