The mechanics behind sustainable power transition

Faglige nøgleord: Wind, Windmills, Wind turbines, Mechanics, Engineering, Green Energy, Aerodynamics

Oplæg tilgængeligt på: Engelsk og spansk

My background is in mechanical engineering. After finishing my studies and working in an engineering consultancy company for a year, I came to Denmark, to DTU, to do my master's in wind energy. There, I learned so much about the mechanical design of windmills, and at the end of my studies, my professors offered me to stay as a PhD student, something that I had been considering since my bachelor's. For the past three years, I have been researching wind turbine aerodynamics to help design the next generation of windmills, which is highly important in the energy transition that Europe is aiming for.
For the high school students, I could tell them in depth about a variety of topics such as: Wind turbines (how do they work and what are the technical and social challenges that we are currently facing), energy transitions, what mechanical engineering is, how is the life of a DTU student, and what the life of a PhD student looks like.
