My presentation introduces students to the interior of stars. While stars may appear as small, quiet points of light in the night sky, they are huge spheres of hot plasma with a lot going on inside them. My research focuses on stars that are bigger and hotter than our Sun and investigates how magnetic fields form inside them and influence what we observe from Earth. By studying very small variations in starlight, we can uncover information about what is happening inside them. The talk will give students insight into how astrophysicists study stars without travelling to them, and how light can be used as a tool to understand the Universe. I will explain key ideas and involve the students with some questions during the presentation, encouraging them to think about how we know what we know about space. Although my research is within fundamental astrophysics, it is connected to society. Magnetic activity in stars, especially in our own Sun, affects satellites, communication systems, and power infrastructure on Earth. Investigating stellar magnetism is necessary to understand space weather and the environment surrounding our planet. I will also share my path from high school to becoming a PhD student at DTU. The aim of the visit is to inspire curiosity and spark interest in astrophysics.
