1) What is my research about?
My research looks at electric cars and how they use electricity. When many people charge their electric cars at the same time, it can put a lot of pressure on the power grid. But electric cars can also be part of the solution. By charging at smarter times, such as when electricity is plentiful, they can help balance the system. In my project, I study how people actually charge their cars in everyday life and how these habits affect the power grid.

2) Why does this matter for sustainability and society?
Electric cars are important for reducing CO₂ emissions, but they only work well if our electricity system can handle them. My research helps make sure that the transition to electric transport is both green and reliable. By understanding human behaviour, we can design energy systems that avoid blackouts, reduce costs, and work fairly for everyone, without asking people to change their daily lives too much.

3) How did I become a PhD student at DTU?
A lot of things have changed in my life since high school, and even though I was not exactly dreaming of a PhD back then I new that I really enjoyed learning. Becoming a PhD at DTU was not just an application for me that happened to get accepted. Starting from high school, in Greece, I scored high in my final national exams and managed to get into the engineering school, so I was just super excited and also super lost. There were so many things to choose but among all, the energy systems seem to be one of the most attractive topics for me in electrical engineering. After finishing my studies I felt that I wanted to continue on learning, so I started a master's degree in DTU. The key part here was my thesis. At the end, the topic and collaboration with the supervisors, as well as the environment at DTU made me wanting to stay a bit more and keep on investigating. As a research assistant then I had the opportunity to shape my topic and the pleasure to start working on it a bit later.
